I managed to get lucky on my first buy and get a Regigigas 120 HP with an attack that does 120 damage! Bottom line? If you're considering getting this, stop thinking and buy it!

The strategy to this deck isn't very strong, but with the help of a few booster packs, you can easily change it around to make it fabulous. Since Clefairy is VERY rare, collectors may need to get this theme deck. If you're a player, and need either grass or fighting energy, you should also get this deck, as Clefairy might help out you're game.

(More customer reviews)This is a great game. You get all 52 regular suits, except there are different pokemon on each one! The jokers have Ash, Misty, Brock and Team Rocket on them as well. There are instructions for playing rummy and it's even educational, too! My 3 year old is learning how to read based on these cards! It's even more of a blast listening to him pronounce the different pokemon! I highly recommend this to everyone, and the price here just can't be beat! I bought mine in a grocery store and it was at least $1 more in price!

(More customer reviews)So, as the other review for this item mentioned, this seller, The Gaming Broker, ships only a single booster pack. Now, my issue is with the fact that in the Product features, despite the name of the product "Pokemon Basic American Trading Card Game Booster Pack", it states:

* Pokemon Trading Card Game
THIS* 2 - Booster Packs - 11 Additional Games Cards in Each Pack
THIS* Total 22 Cards - Out of Production
* Collectible
The features noted with the, THIS, indicate that the product shipped is in fact two boosters, equaling to 22 cards. However, much like the other reviewer, I received just a single booster. Chalk this up to trusting a merchant too much. I will be sure to simply not purchase anything from The Gaming Broker again, and I suggest you do the same.
Pokemon Cards are awesome, however a merchant who is incapable of correctly typing the amount of boosters/cards, isn't.

(More customer reviews)My son is pretty much addicted to Pokemon anything at the moment. I purchased these cards for his birthday and he loves them. There was actually a great variety (considering the site mentioned there may be dupes) - especially for the low price. I don't quite "get" the point of the card game myself, but my son enjoys playing with his friends. As far as "educational value" - I don't consider this an educational game, so hard to place a rank on that. If you play the game the way it's supposed to be played, though, it actually requires quite a bit of reading and basic math (adding scores, etc.) Can get pretty strategic, too. Overall very happy with the procudt and transaction.

POKEMON TRADING CARD GAME 2 PLAYER STARTER SET Review

(More customer reviews)I've gotta disagree with the not-for-kids-under-10 comment. My nephews started playing Pokemon using this set way back when they were little--I mean, 5 and 7, something like that. A grownup needs to read the rules and teach them how to play ... then they're off and running. At first they'd come find grownups to read the attack info and help them with difficult rule points, but pretty soon they had the cards down 100%. It was incredible. They actually learned to read in part by playing Pokemon ... and they got lightning fast at multiplying by 10s, subtracting and adding by 10s, etc. When an adult would play with them they were much faster at working the math (skipping steps to get the final result), and they NEVER made a mistake.
My beef with the game is the sales of small packs. Little kids are pathologically optimistic. Every time they spent their money on a pack they thought they were going to get exactly the card they wanted. When they didn't, well ... sometimes there were tears. They felt ripped off. So grownups have to be prepared to set firm rules on what the kids can spend on cards and talk them through the disappointments.
With that caveat, though ... this was the first strategy game they were really interested in. They learned a ton from it. As far as educational value goes, there's nothing in the world that compares to that 100% all-out I-love-it energy kids bring to their favorite things.
We live in a Pokemon world. We do. Just accept it.
