(More customer reviews)The "Mind Flood" theme deck is one of the first decks to be released with the new expansion pack; HeartGold SoulSilver (as of mid May, a newer expansion, HGSS Unleashed has been released). The new expansion includes new Pokemon Prime cards (to replace EX and LV.X cards) and a whole new gameplay mechanic; the Legend cards. Legend cards are two cards that can only be played together, and form to become a super strong PKMN.
The "Mind Flood" deck doesn't include any PKMN Prime or Legend cards, but i still consider it worth getting. Included in the theme deck are

The "Mind Flood" deck includes 3 "star" pokemon, or rare cards. The obvious foil Feraligatr, regular Hypno and regular Exeggutor. All of these cards are exclusive to the deck, as Feraligatr can only be found as a regular non-foil card in boosters, and both Exeggutor and Hypno can only be found as foil cards in the boosters.
The deck box also includes a playing mat (with directions for novice players), a play manual and card list, a coin, and damage counters. In other words, like most other PKMN theme decks, this one is great for collectors and new players alike, as it includes everything needed to start playing Pokemon.

(More customer reviews)Unlike some of the other reviewers for this item, I actually used to play the original Pokemon card game as a kid, and I actually know a very fair amount about what I was getting. It specifically states that you will get a RANDOM drawing of holo-rares. These other people expecting Charizards because they saw one in the picture have no idea what they are doing.
With this being said, I must say that the description of this purchase is incorrect. It said I would receive a card sleeve for each individual card as well as a free pack of stickers. None of these were included (not that I care at all about stickers, but sleeves would have been super nice). Not only that, they were shipped without any protection at all in a very small packing envelope, which my mail carrier thought would fit nicely, jammed and bent, into my tiny mailbox. The cards are now all curved backwards.
Having bought 206 Yu-gi-oh cards at the same time as this purchase for almost half the price (and just as many rares) I was much more impressed with the Yu-gi-oh cards. They actually were sent with protective sleeves, surrounded by packing peanuts, in a very sturdy little box, AND it came with enough cards to massively strengthen my deck/create a starter deck for my friends (yes, multiple friends). With the Pokemon cards I will now have to browse some other sites and purchase other specific cards in order to ever be able to use most of this purchase.

With it's Set Up Pokepower that allows you to draw until you have seven cards in your hand, to its attack, Psychic Restore, which does 20 and you can put the card and all cards attached to it on the bottom of your deck in any order you wish. This makes it quite good in a Donking situation I'd get this card as soon as possible, as it is only going to grow more expensive.

Pokemon PL Card Game Platinum Set of Both Theme Decks (Rebellion and Flourish) Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter's classmates are all into Pokemon. She's late to the game, and wanted to get in on the whole craze. I told her the local stores were charging too much for these decks, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Amazon offers two of these game sets for slightly more than the cost of just one at my local Wal-Mart.
What you get for this purchase is two sets that each contain a complete play deck, a mat to play the game on, little counters you can use for the gameplay (they're like icons to show that a Pokemon is poisoned or confused), and a rule book that is well written (and will take several passes to understand).
I rate this game with a high educational value because despite my dislike of "collectible" marketing to children, there's some mental development required to be good at this game. Children not only have to understand their characters' strengths and weaknesses, they have to make good logical decisions about which creature to use and when. They often make on-the-fly decisions about how to outdo each other, and they will need to know tens-based math, adding or removing "hit points" in 10-point increments. Some of the actions you have to perform require you to concentrate, e.g., "Flip a coin. If heads, remove the bottom 7 cards from your opponent's stack. Take any one of those seven, add it to your hand, return the others to opponent's deck, and reshuffle."
If your child needs to get into the Pokemon craze, this is a great way to get started: the little slim packs don't contain all the pieces that you need to play (nor the instructions) and this made us both able to play with her booster-pack cards.

(More customer reviews)I love Dialga and I was excited to see this. The cards inside we're great pulls. They add to my collection very nicely. The tin is also a great way to store your cards. One complain I have is that there are only about 4 booster packs inside the tin. You pay a lot of money for so little cards especially considering how some packs had 9 cards and others had 10. It's a bit too overpriced but otherwise I recommend getting it. A+

If you don't have any cards at all, it may not be the best choice you can make because this is usually played with other Pokemon cards.
In order to increase the durability of the card, you should keep it in a dry place, away from sunlight, in order to prevent the usual colour-damage caused by light.
